The-Best-Version-of-Yourself

The following is a poem written by a 15 year old boy in Florida named Sam Liput based on excerpts his mother read to him from Matthew Kelly's book Rediscovering Catholicism.

The-Best-Version-of-Yourself

There are hundreds and thousands of people on earth, Who have no idea of their potential worth. They go throughout life, yet they somehow don't see That they are not all that God calls them to be.

That's what God wants. That's His plan for us all. That's what we want too; we just can't hear the call. We search for some thing-we're not sure what it is- When it really is God and all that is His.

We look to the world, to the drug, to the friend, But for all of this, death is the ultimate end. God's word and the saints-they lead us to life, Away from a world full of darkness and strife.

Yet no matter how righteous, how pure or devout, We still get distracted and God gets drowned out. "This will make you happy." "No, this will surely fill." Yet despite all the promises, we're empty until

We throw off the things that remove us from God, Which say they're fulfilling, yet each is a fraud. Once that is done, and we say to God, "Yes," Then we grow in our calling which is holiness.

You want to be happy. Who doesn't? It's true. It's something that everyone wants to pursue. Pursue it in goodness. Pursue it in truth. Pursue it in innocence like that of youth.

Pursue it in vigilance and with a smile. Pursue it in holiness. All of the while, Keep heading toward the goal of all goals. Keep your feet on the Rock, the Lover of souls.

Heaven is waiting. How do we get there? By pursuing the Lord and living in prayer. You can't get to Heaven through fortune or fun, Popularity, or the things you have done.

It's only through God, through the Lord Jesus Christ, Not through the things by which you're enticed. We all need Christ Jesus. It's time to confess And live for the Lord in true holiness.

Happiness, heaven. They can be achieved If you're faithful and holy and never deceived, If you get praise for God instead of for self, And if you're the-best-version-of-yourself.
